Diesel DispenserAn Indian technician checks a fuel nozzle at a factory yard dispenser.

If your metering dispenser nozzle keeps clicking off on a CE-204 or CE-206, check the tank level, nozzle holder, and preset amount. If dispensing stops repeatedly before any of those conditions applies, stop using the unit and arrange qualified service.

  1. Check the receiving tank. A full tank triggers automatic shut-off on CE-204 and CE-206 dispensers. If the tank is not full, check the holder.
  2. Check the nozzle holder. Both models stop dispensing when the nozzle returns to its holder. Note whether it was in the holder when flow stopped.
  3. Check the entered amount. Both models stop at the entered volume or sale amount. Compare that preset with the reading at the stop.

Check the three stop conditions first

On CE-204 and CE-206, a full tank, a returned nozzle, or a reached preset explains an automatic stop. These checks cannot identify why a nozzle repeatedly stops before those conditions occur.

If the tank is not full, note whether the stop happens at the same displayed litre reading each time. Compare that reading with any preset before treating the event as an unexplained stop.

Record the repeat symptom and arrange a service check

If none of the three conditions applies and stopping repeats, stop using the CE-204 or CE-206 and arrange qualified service. Give the technician:

  • The model: CE-204 or CE-206.
  • The displayed litres when dispensing stopped.
  • Whether stopping occurs on every attempt or only some attempts.
  • The tank level and whether the nozzle was in its holder.
  • The selected mode and entered volume or sale amount, if any.
  • Whether displayed litres also differ from your measured delivery.

If displayed litres differ from measured delivery, record that difference separately. Follow the diesel flow meter troubleshooting checks for the reading issue; an early stop alone does not show that the meter is inaccurate.

The meter measures volume; the dispenser is the full unit

A fuel dispenser meter, also called a fuel dispenser flow meter, measures the volume delivered. The dispenser is the larger unit, including its controls, hose, and nozzle.

Tell the technician whether dispensing stopped early, the litre reading appears wrong, or both occurred. That distinction prevents a reading dispute from being treated as proof of a nozzle fault.

Check which dispensing mode was selected

CE-204 offers preset volume, preset sale amount, and dispensing without a preset. CE-206 has the same three modes. Check the active mode and entered value before reporting an early stop.

With a volume preset, the unit stops at the entered litres. With a sale preset, it stops at the entered sale amount. During dispensing, pressing SALE sets a stop at the next whole price figure; LITRE sets one at the next whole litre.

If your operator selected no preset, an entered amount cannot explain the stop. Check the tank and holder; if neither explains repeated stopping, arrange service rather than changing parts.

Compare CE-204 and CE-206 specifications

CE-204 has tighter specified accuracy; CE-206 has a wider specified flow range. Neither figure identifies the cause of repeated nozzle shut-off.

Model Accuracy Flow range Power options
CE-204 ±0.1% 40–60 L/min DC12V, DC24V, AC220V
CE-206 ±0.5% 20–80 L/min DC12V, DC24V, AC220V

For a replacement decision, match your required LPM and available power to the model. Confirm the intended liquid for your specific installation before choosing either unit. For routine nozzle checks after the fault is resolved, use the fuel nozzle maintenance schedule.

FAQs

Fuel nozzle keeps clicking off – what’s causing it and how do I fix it?

On CE-204 or CE-206, check the tank, holder, and preset. If none explains repeated stopping, stop using the unit and arrange qualified service; these checks cannot identify the fault.

What’s the difference between a fuel dispenser meter and a fuel dispenser flow meter?

Both terms refer to the part that measures dispensed volume. The dispenser is the full unit, including controls, hose, and nozzle.

Can CE-204 dispense without a preset?

Yes. CE-204 supports preset volume, preset sale amount, and dispensing without a preset. Check the active mode before treating a stop at an entered amount as a fault.

Quick pick

  • Tank full, nozzle returned, or preset reached: Treat the CE-204 or CE-206 stop as expected.
  • Repeated early stop with none of those conditions: Stop use and arrange qualified service.
  • Displayed litres disputed: Investigate the reading separately from nozzle shut-off.
  • Choosing CE-204 or CE-206: Match your required LPM, accuracy, and power to the table.
